It’s the first night of the 2021 NFL Draft and the spotlight is going to fall squarely on the quarterbacks.
As many as five quarterbacks could go in tonight’s first-round starting with Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, who is likely to become the fourth straight quarterback selected when the Jacksonville Jaguars take him with the first overall pick.
The second pick will most likely also be a quarterback with the New York Jets going with BYU’s Zach Wilson while San Francisco could also take a signal-caller with the third pick, possibly Alabama’s Mac Jones.
The last time the top three picks in the draft were quarterbacks was 1999 when Tim Couch (Cleveland), Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia) and Akili Smith (Cincinnati) were selected in back-to-back-to-back fashion.
