For the second year in a row, Florida State has hit the transfer portal for a high-profile name at quarterback — this time, the Seminoles have secured the commitment of Thomas Castellanos, former starter at Boston College. It’s a reunion of sorts, as Castellanos was the first quarterback to commit to Gus Mahlzan during his tenure at UCF, playing in five games before ending up in Chestnut Hill:
In two seasons with Boston College, Castellanos threw for 3,614 yards, rushed for 1,307 yards, and notched 47 total touchdowns. However, he proved a poor fit in new BC coach Bill O’Brien’s pro-style offense, as his rushing yardage dropped from 1,113 yards on 5.
