Florida State wasted no time applying pressure to the Owls. In the first minute Mimi Van Zanten drove the ball forward out of the midfield. Van Zanten played give and go with Ashlyn Puerta. She then one-timed a pass to Wrianna Hudson for another give and go. Van Zanten followed that up with a brilliant touch to get by a sliding Catarina Albuquerque. Van Zanten then blasted a shot from about 12 yards out but Rice keeper Faith Hutchens was there for the early save.
