FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The highly speculated Deebo Samuel trade never materialized for the New York Jets, but they still became one of the biggest stories of the NFL draft by making three first-round picks Thursday.
The Jets landed three of the top eight players on their board -- Cincinnati cornerback Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner (No. 4 pick), Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson (No. 10 pick), and, in a trade-up, Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson II (26th overall).
"A boring, ho-hum night," general manager Joe Douglas deadpanned at the start of his post-draft news conference.
