Once considered an unofficial holiday for high school recruits and college programs across the country, Wednesday’s National Signing Day has become a blip on the radar.
That’s not to say there won’t be some fireworks for local high school prospects and state schools but recent numbers show that December’s early signing period has become the primary one for football recruiting with more than 80% of players putting their name on the dotted line at that time.
“What you’ve seen the last couple of years is the early signing has really been the main one for everyone,” UCF coach Gus Malzahn told 365 Sports Radio on Tuesday.
