Florida State’s defenses during head coach Mike Norvell’s tenure, led with free reign by defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, have historically acclimated as seasons progressed. In past years, that adjustment period was offset by a potent offense making up for the occasional breaking of a defense willing to bend.
In 2024, that trend caught up with FSU, as ineptitude in the early stretch of the season failed to overcome an inefficient offense, rendering any progress that’s being made at this point too little, too late.
While the offense has caught its fair amount of flack as evidence of problems beyond just the quarterback position became clear to the viewing public, the defensive side of the ball has long been under fire from a fanbase eager to see it click from the start of a season.
