LAS VEGAS -- Josh Taylor scored the biggest victory of his career on Saturday to become the junior welterweight undisputed champion. Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs), 30, of Edinburgh, Scotland, dropped Ramirez in Round 6 and Round 7 to earn a unanimous decision victory at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas.
Ramirez (26-1, 17 KOs), 28, of Avenal, California, was hoping to become the first Mexican-American fighter to win an undisputed world championship, but came up short. All three judges scored the fight for Taylor 114-112.
