If there was any doubt, the ACC named James Tibbs ACC Player of the Year when it announced its end-of-season awards Monday afternoon.
Tibbs destroyed the league this season, getting on base at a .519 clip and smashing 24 HRs, both tops in the conference. The RF fended off plenty of other viable candidates in the ACC, but a player who hits more long balls than strikes out does not come around every day. The Marietta native took his defense to a new level this season, which put him ahead of the other candidates. Tibbs did not receive an award at the end of last season, so he will take his first-ever ACC honor.
