Early last Friday morning, well before Florida State football’s Dunlap Practice Facility had filled up in anticipation of Pro Day, a stream of supporters filed in to offer support for participants still warming up — families, coaches, current players eager to see their teammates put their talents on display.
Among the crowd was a surprise face — transfer defensive end James Williams. Despite being someone who new defensive line coach Terrance Knighton described as “not a morning person” and who has no apparent connection to those former FSU players, Williams was there bright and early, supporting those who’d worn the garnet and gold before him while envisioning his own moment before NFL scouts in the same space.
