How Alex Lodise’s confidence, perseverance turned him into one of the country’s best — and led to legendary win over Florida

It felt like a night ripped right from the pages of a screenplay.

Not only did Florida State shortstop and team captain Alex Lodise, playing 30 minutes away from his high school stadium, put together a one-in-a-liftetime performance but he did so at the expense of the Florida Gators, evening the in-season series on Wednesday night.

Lodise hit for the cycle, becoming the first Seminole to accomplish that feat since 2019, capping off the accomplishment by belting an opposite-field walk-off grand slam deep into the 904 night, stealing victory from the jaws of defeat after UF took the lead in the top half of the ninth.
