As Florida State prepared to host rival Miami last season, the Seminoles were still a program searching for an identity.
FSU stumbled through a disappointing 0-4 start, regrouping to win three straight before dropping a pair of games to Clemson and N.C. State. That early November showdown with the Hurricanes had a lot more riding on the game than instate bragging rights and as it turns out, the 31-28 come-from-behind victory provided a lot more than a win.
“That was a big game for us a year ago,” said FSU coach Mike Norvell.
