FSU's Kermit Whitfield: 'I know I'm the fastest guy on the field'

TALLAHASSEE — FSU wide receiver Kermit Whitfield was quietly putting together a career-best season.

After Saturday's contest against Louisville, Whitfield solidified himself as the Seminoles' most consistent wide out and placed himself squarely on everyone's radar.

The junior had nine catches for 172 yards and a touchdown during No. 11 FSU's 41-21 win over the Cardinals. His highlight play came with FSU trailing 14-13 mid-way through the third quarter.

Everett Golson found the former track star — Whitfield was a state champion in the 100 and 200 at Orlando Jones High — cutting down the middle of the field.
