Florida State’s inconsistency this week continued as the Noles fell to Miami Friday night, 9-6, the second loss of the week for Link Jarrett’s team. FSU could not take advantage of runners in scoring position early, the bats fell silent in the middle innings, and the Noles could not dig themselves out of an insurmountable lead in the eighth and ninth. After mashing yesterday, the top of the order rarely put up quality or even competitive at-bats as the 1-5 went 5-21 with eight men left on base. The inconsistency of the lineup might be the Noles’ ultimate shortcoming as they are hit-or-miss in every game, and more specifically, every pitch.
