No Florida State running back has ever won the Doak Walker Award, presented annually to the nation’s top running back. But this year, a couple of players from the Seminoles’ loaded backfield have made the initial watch list to do so.
Jacques Patrick picks up his second straight preseason Walker Award nomination, as he returns to Tallahassee for his senior year. In 2017 he rushed for 748 yards and seven touchdowns on 134 carries. He recorded nine starts and missed two games due to injury.
Earlier this week, sophomore running back Cam Akers was named to the 2018 Maxwell Award Watch List, a prize bestowed upon the nation’s top player.
