The game started off tight but Clemson made a move midway through the first quarter. The Tigers hit the Noles with a 13-2 run that was capped by a layup from Loyal McQueen to take a 20-13 lead. Makayla Timpson snagged an offensive rebound and scored on the putback to close the gap to 25-19 at the end of the first quarter. In the first quarter the offense was a bit moribund and the defense was having trouble guarding McQueen and that led to the deficit.
