During a Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Friday morning, Florida State is expected to take the first step in formally separating from the ACC by, as reported first by Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger as well as CBS Sports’ Bud Elliot, approving a legal filing that will serve as the “first step” of leaving the conference.
The meeting comes after reports by ESPN that indicated Florida State “had renewed in-depth discussions about its long-term future in the ACC in recent weeks,” with the conversation amping up after the Seminoles’ exclusion from the College Football Playoff.
After rumblings and rumors bubbling for months, this past August, Florida State first voiced its discontentment with the current status of the ACC during a Board of Trustees meeting this past August.
