For the first time in program history, Florida State played outside of the United States, opening the season in Week 0 in Ireland against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The game started out with a bang, as the Seminoles efficiently executed its scripted opening drive, capped off by a Lawrance Toafili touchdown run. A two-point conversion put Florida State ahead 8-0, a lead quickly cut down to one as Georgia Tech was able to respond with an opening-drive touchdown of its own.
While some sluggishness and rust was to be expected given the early season matchup and potential travel fatigue, there were some glaring issues on both side of the ball as the game wore on.
