Florida State quarterback Chubba Purdy, who has emerged as a strong offensive spark for the Seminoles during the past month and started one game, had season-ending surgery to address a lingering collarbone injury.
FSU coach Mike Norvell confirmed the news Wednesday, adding to the extensive list of injuries and COVID-19 related opt outs that have decimated the Seminoles' roster and made an already challenging rebuilding project more difficult.
Purdy, a 6-foot-2, 212-pound quarterback from Queen Creek, Ariz., first sustained a collar bone injury in August. He had surgery to address the issue and another procedure to clean up damage in the area that kept him out of the quarterback rotation until October.
