After leading the Seminoles to a 13-1 record with an appearance in the Capital One Orange Bowl, Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell has been named the 2023 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year.
The fourth-year head coach is the first recipient of the award in FSU school history.
Norvell, who was nominated for the award in 2019 after leading the Memphis Tigers to a 12-1 record and AAC title before taking the Florida State job, beat out David Braun (Northwestern Wildcats), Jamey Chadwell (Liberty Flames), Kalen DeBoer (Washington Huskies), Eliah Drinkwitz (Missouri Tigers), Rhett Lashlee (SMU Mustangs), Steve Sarkisian (Texas Longhorns) and newly-retired Nick Saban (Alabama Crimson Tide).
