FSU head coach Luke Loucks confirms hiring of 2 assistant coaches

Florida State men’s basketball head coach Luke Loucks officially took the reins of the program following FSU’s loss in the ACC Tournament earlier this month.

The former Florida State player and Sacramento Kings assistant has already begun shaping his staff, confirming Thursday the hiring of two assistant coaches: Michael Fly, associate head coach at Jacksonville University, and Gerald Gillion, assistant head coach at LIU Brooklyn.

Both coaches have Florida State ties — Fly served as video coordinator for Leonard Hamilton from 2008 to 2011, while Gillion, who has known Loucks since their teenage years, graduated from FSU in 2008 — and both represent the kind of staff that he’s looking to build in Tallahassee, one composed of those who have experience building programs and “doing more with less.
