It’s not often that a team that just made its second-consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearance in the NCAA Tournament can be said to have had a tough week, but that’s an apt description of the Florida State basketball program. Forward Phil Cofer’s father Michael passed on Thursday, and the team has rallied around its redshirt-senior leader. Monday brought the announcement that Cofer will not play in 4-seed FSU’s regional semifinal game against 1-seed Gonzaga.
But after divulging that information on the Jeff Cameron Show, head coach Leonard Hamilton mentioned some good news as well. Hamilton said that he was “hopeful” that reserve point guard David Nichols would play against the Bulldogs on Thursday.
