When FSU football joined the Atlantic Coast Conference before the 1992 season, the scheduling pattern of playing power teams more often changed as the Seminoles were limited to three non-conference games each year – and with rivals Florida and Miami taking up two of those games, it was rare for the Noles to be a able to scheduling another home and home series.
Still, the Seminoles did have a few that drew national attention – including ones against USC and Notre Dame in the late 90s and early 2000s along with ones against Colorado and Oklahoma (with a little more freedom after the battle with the Hurricanes became an ACC battle starting in the 2004 season).
