Toward the end of the tenure of the previous head coach for FSU football, there was a general frustration from the fan base in garnet and gold that the play calling had become predictable for the most part and there was absolutely no effort being done to take a chance and a risk once in a while.
One of those was the idea that going for it on fourth down was akin to having the plague and should never be done. I’m not saying that you should go for it on 4th and eight, but when you are a foot away from a first down and you have a quarterback that is 6’4″ or taller it’s okay to go for it once in a while.
