FSU Football: Give Charles Kelly Credit For 2015 Defensive Turnaround

In a period of just over 13 months, FSU football was having themselves a problem with keeping a defensive coordinator in place. Mark Stoops, who manned the controls from 2010 to 2012, left to become the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats.

His replacement, Jeremy Pruitt, lasted just one season in Tallahassee and left after the 2013 national title season for greener pastures (i.e. more money) with the Georgia Bulldogs.

In Pruitt’s spot, head coach Jimbo Fisher promoted linebacker coach Charles Kelly to the top spot…something he had done as a defensive coordinator for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as well as several FCS schools.
