Devonta Freeman signed a deal with the Atlanta Falcons to make him the highest-paid running back in the NFL two years ago.
After an injury-filled 2018, and lower production in 14 games in 2019, the Falcons have decided to release him to save three million dollars against their salary cap.
The two-time Pro Bowl player was selected by the Falcons in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the No. 103 overall pick.
He led the NFL in rushing touchdown in 2015 and was a huge part of Atlanta’s passing attack, catching 30+ receptions in five of his six seasons.
