I’m not sure what it is with ESPN and FSU football. For whatever reason they seem to always want to short change what the Noles have accomplished in such a short time frame.
In fact, they released a greatest football programs in the past 150 years recently. Why though?
What teams did 100 years ago doesn’t mean a hill of beans in my opinion, but here’s how they came to their conclusion:
Basic model
Dominance, 20% — number of national championships
Peak strength, 20% — winning percentage for best 50 seasons in program history
Since integration, 30% — winning percentage over the past 50 seasons (1969-2018)
Early modern, 20% — winning percentage over the middle 50 seasons (1919-1968).
