FSU falls short in loss to No. 22 Wake Forest, 31-21

TALLAHASSEE — It was a perfect fall Saturday in Tallahassee and for a brief moment, it felt like old times.

Here was Florida State set to host No. 22 Wake Forest in a crucial ACC showdown with the Seminoles undefeated and ranked for the first time since 2019. The tailgate lots were abuzz as fans rejoiced over the team’s hot start.

The good times never seem to last as Sam Hartman tossed two touchdowns and the Demon Deacons jumped out to a 28-7 lead before hanging on for a 31-21 win.

It was the season’s first loss for FSU, which had hoped to make it five straight wins for the first time since 2016 and move one step closer to 6-wins and bowl eligibility.
