For the second straight season, FSU baseball will be rewarded if they win the Tallahassee Regional with the chance to play the rival Florida Gators for the fourth and fifth times this season (possibly even a sixth) if Florida wins their regional was well.
It’s just another rematch that the NCAA selection committee has put together either from the 2016 regular season or the 2015 Super Regional round (or, in the case of the Seminoles and Gators, both) that is drawing criticism for how this year’s tournament was put together.
Since 1999 when the Super Regional round was created, the selection committee has given eight teams a “national seed”, meaning they would host that round if they got through their regional field.
