Come Friday afternoon inside Dick Howser Stadium, the FSU baseball team will begin their 72nd season of action when the Seminoles host the Maine Black Bears in the first of a four game series that not just kicks off the year for the Noles – but also starts the end of the era for longtime head coach Mike Martin.
In his 40 seasons at the helm for the Seminoles, Martin has led the program to the annual eight team showcase known as the College World Series a total of 16 times out of 22 total appearances in FSU baseball history – but only four have come in the last 18 seasons after going to Omaha eight of the previous 10 years.
