Former FSU All-American and NFL Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders is arguably one of the most important players in FSU’s short football history.
He helped put FSU on the map along with legendary coach Bobby Bowden when he enrolled in 1985.
Sanders was arguably the first defensive back to gain notoriety for his smack talk and his play. However, it was well-earned as he was a two-time unanimous All-American and had his FSU No. 2 jersey retired.
Sanders time at FSU coincided with the beginning of the ‘Noles epic 14 year run of being ranked top five for 14 straight seasons.
