The legendary Masters Tournament kicked off at Augusta National this Thursday and there were a couple of familiar faces in the crowd. Florida State president John Thrasher, athletic director Stan Wilcox, and new football head coach Willie Taggart made a day trip to the historic Augusta greens on Thursday to follow Seminoles amateur golfer Harry Ellis. Ellis is a current senior at FSU who earned his spot in the hallowed tournament after winning the British Amateur tournament last June.
The trio, along with FSU golf coach Trey Jones, supported Ellis’ during his first round. Although Ellis struggled on day one and finished the round +14, the FSU staff trio got to watch former Florida State golfer and current PGA pro Daniel Berger finish the first round strong.
