Florida State pummels South Alabama, advances to super regionals

TALLAHASSEE — Florida State players watched on as South Alabama's entire team burst from the dugout and swarmed Travis Swaggerty after a leadoff home run in the first inning of Sunday's contest.

It did not take long, however, for the No. 12 Seminoles to steal momentum away from their fatigued opponent and turn the game into a lopsided home-run derby en route to an 18-6 victory. FSU (40-20) had six homers as the barrage of power hitting propelled the Seminoles past the Jaguars (42-22) and into the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament.
