Florida State men’s basketball head coach Leonard Hamilton will resign at the end of the 24-25 season. The legend’s contract expires at the end of the year, and a new coach will roam the FSU sidelines for the first time since 2001. An FSU spokesperson confirmed that athletic director Michael Alford will “immediately begin a national search for Hamilton’s successor.”
The 76-year-old Hamilton is the winningest coach in Florida State history, the fifth-winningest coach in ACC history, and brought the Seminoles their first-ever ACC tournament title in 2012. His intricate systems of using ten-man rotations, 220 passes a game, and team basketball resulted in nine first-round and ten-second-round picks during his tenure.
