No. 9 Florida State baseball closed out its three-game series with Florida tonight in Gainesville for a winner-take-all matchup. The rivals split the first two meetings, with the Gators defeated FSU soundly in Tallahassee before the Seminoles responded with an 8-4 walk-off win, courtesy of a grand slam from Alex Lodise.
The two went back-and-forth but in the end, FSU’s multiple squandered opportunities cost Florida State the game and season series to UF. A three-run homerun by the Gators in the fifth was the deciding factor in Florida’s 5-4 victory.
The Seminoles threatened early with Max Williams and Myles Bailey connecting on back-to-back two out singles but the Gators were able to strike out Drew Faurot to end the inning.
