Looking at Florida State’s 6-6 record, there should have been no concerns that the Seminoles were bowl eligible, as dictated by the six victories. However, its eligibility was questioned in a Reddit post on Thursday that got everyone, both fans and media, up in arms and asking questions.

The original Reddit post alleged that Delaware State did not distribute over 90% of its allocated scholarships. The post cited a very specific NCAA rule that was overlooked. Here is the word-for-word rule:

18.7.2.1.1 Exception - Football Championship Subdivision Opponent. [FBS] Each year, a Football Bowl Subdivision institution may count one victory against a Football Championship Subdivision opponent toward meeting the definition of a “deserving team,” provided the opponent has averaged 90 percent of the permissible maximum number of grants-in-aid per year in football during a rolling two-year period.
