The College Football Playoff committee decades of precedence on Sunday, denying Florida State a chance to compete for a national championship despite the Seminoles' 13-0 record and ACC Championship win.
The committee opted to place Alabama at No. 4 following the Crimson Tide’s win over Georgia, with Texas (who handed Alabama a loss in September) slotting in at No. 3.
With Florida State athletic director Michael Alford issuing his own stern statement in the aftermath of the decision, head coach Mike Norvell offered his own thoughts on the snub in a press release statement.
“I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games,” Norvell said in a statement.
