This is why Mike Norvell, who inauspiciously debuted as Florida State’s new head coach with a miserable 16-13 loss to a Georgia Tech team that was 3-9 a year ago, is the most important hire at FSU since the iconic Bobby Bowden.
Bowden was hired way back in 1976 with FSU at its lowest point in history. After going 4-29 during the previous three seasons, FSU chose Bowden to replace Darrell Mudra, whose contract was bought out for a grand total of $100,000.
Fast forward nearly a half-century later when Norvell was hired at FSU’s lowest point in modern history.
