At a press conference this afternoon with university president John Thrasher and Florida governor Ron DeSantis, Florida State head coach Mike Norvell confirmed that a second Seminole football player had opted out of the season due to the coronavirus, and further confirmed that player is defensive tackle Dennis Briggs, Jr.
Briggs, a redshirt sophomore this season, follows the announcement of defensive end Jamarcus Chatman opting out.
The addition — er, subtraction — of a second defensive lineman opting out obviously hurts FSU’s depth, but Florida State has arguably the deepest and best DT rotation in the country.
