Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson tears MCL

Florida State suffered a big loss this morning as news spread of the extent of Marvin Wilson’s injury. According to Coach Taggart, Wilson will miss the remainder of spring ball and the spring game with a torn MCL.

Wilson had been seen on crutches at yesterday’s practice. Coach Taggart confirmed Wednesday morning at his morning press conference that Wilson had indeed suffered a significant injury.

Taggart noted he expects Wilson to return by the fall.

While the timeline of recovery on such injuries varies depending on the extent of the severity of the injury, A University of California San Francisco health site would seem to support a fall return even for the most severe grade of MCL tear:

A minor, or grade 1, MCL tear can take from a few days to a week and a half to heal sufficiently for you to return to normal activities, including sports.
