On a January night in the state of California, the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide met for the fourth time in the five editions of the College Football Playoff – and for the third time to decide who would be the champion of this system that was thrown upon the world of college football starting with the 2014 season.
What the playoff system has shown us maybe more than anything else is that no matter what, people are going to complain. They complained about the old Bowl Championship Series that gave way to the playoff system and now the complaint has gone on to being about how four teams isn’t enough for the system.
