Following Kansas City’s season-opening 34-20 victory over Houston on Thursday, Chiefs rookie punter Tommy Townsend sat at his locker.
"I don’t think it really hit me until after the game … I was sitting there looking at my jersey and I was just thinking, ‘Dang, this is crazy. I just finished playing my first NFL game. This is something I dreamed about when I was a kid,’ " said Townsend, who graduated Orlando’s Boone High in 2015. “So many people dream about it, so being able to play the game was just an incredible feeling.”
Townsend was even trending on Twitter each time the Chiefs faced a punting situation Thursday night as fans discussed the rookie punter with long hair flowing out the back of his Chiefs helmet.
