Florida State has lost a major decommitment from its 2026 recruiting class, with blue-chip quarterback Brady Smigiel backing off his pledge on Sunday.
Smigiel, who was the highest-rated quarterback commitment (at the time of said commitment) the Seminoles have landed under Mike Norvell to date, saw his recruitment pick up over the course of the last month with Washington, UCLA and Ohio State being several of the programs to try and poach the gunslinger.
“Brady’s committed to Florida State but they made a couple of changes, and he just wants to make sure that he’s in the right place, and he wanted to make sure that he did that by checking out some other places,” Joe Smigiel, his father, said last week.
