Football is constantly evolving, mutations often born from desperate coaches looking for any edge they can find to create any possible advantage against their opponents. The jobs for themselves and their staff hang in the balance of whether their gamble is successful or not. For the ones that are successful, they can ride that innovation to the top of the sport. Most innovation takes place at the high school level and trickles up through college and then to the professional level, which is often the slowest to adapt.
The catch is that for those that don’t innovate, at some point they must adapt or get left behind.
