NEW ORLEANS — Florida State (2-0) survived a late rally by LSU, needing a blocked extra point on the final play of regulation to seal a 24-23 win over the Tigers (0-1) on Sunday night in the Caesars Superdome.

Florida State defensive end Jared Verse had never played in a game in which his team blocked two kicks and collected two fumbles on punt coverage until Sunday night.
“One game we had a blocked kicked and a fumble, but never two kicks,” said Verse, who arrived as a transfer from Albany in the offseason.
