Florida State will make the College Football Playoff with a victory over Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game, giving them a chance to play for their second straight national title. We know the teams that might stand in their way, but who are they most likely to face?
Oregon
FSU currently sits No. 4 in the playoff committee's rankings, which would pit them against No.1 Alabama in the first round. However, a win over Georgia Tech will likely catapult the Seminoles over No. 3 TCU, paving the way for them to face No. 2 Oregon. If that happens, FSU will travel to the Rose Bowl and Jameis Winston would have his first showdown with Marcus Mariota.
Alabama
The committee could also decide to keep Florida State fourth, meaning they'd face Alabama in their first bowl game. This is the showdown a lot of fans want to see - No. 1 vs. defending national champs - and would get HUGE television ratings.
Mississippi State
But what happens if Georgia Tech upsets Florida State? Though I don't think that will happen, it would drop Florida State out of the playoff and into the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. The Seminoles would face one of the best teams from the SEC - probably Mississippi State, who many view as the best team in the conference that's not Alabama. It's certainly not ideal for FSU, but this would still be a good game to be in.
