The Florida State Seminoles are in good position to land one of the marquee defensive players in the Class of 2016, after hosting Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy five-star defensive end Shavar Manuel during the program's spring game on Saturday.
Manuel also made a trip to the rival Florida Gators this weekend, making the trip to meet with Florida's coaches on Sunday.
However, it was his trip to Tallahassee that seemed to really stand out for him.
“I got to Tallahassee on Friday night didn’t get over to campus until Saturday morning,” Manuel told Noles247. “I met with coach (Brad) Lawing when I got there. It was the second time I’ve met him. He’s a real outgoing dude and eager to get a championship at FSU. He has a lot of passion for the game.”
After meeting with Lawing, Manuel met up with his primary recruiter, Lawrence Dawsey.
“He was excited to see me and was surprised I was up there. I don’t know why he was surprised to see me, I guess it’s because we hadn’t talked in three or four days.”
Manuel added that his visit to Gainesville was "interesting" too, but the general feeling is that Florida State is a true leader (or one of them at least) for his services.
