Head coach Dabo Swinney has turned the Florida State Seminoles into a recruiting machine, and even though they're in the middle of spring practice, they're still very active in recruiting some of the top prospects in the 2017 class. Here are the top seven recruits Florida State is targeting:
7) RB D'Andre Swift
Swift is the top all-purpose back in the country, and the Seminoles are trying to lure the Philadelphia-native away from Penn State. A shifty speed back who excels at catching passes out of the backfield, the 5'9", 204-pounder figures to make an immediate impact for whoever he signs with.
6) CB Stanford Samuels
The No. 4 cornerback in the country and No. 7 player in the state of Florida, Samuels is a virtual lock to end up in Tallahassee. At 6'2", Samuels has the size, quickness, and physicality to be the next star in FSU's secondary.
5) OT Tedarrell Slaton
Slaton is a mountain of a man at 6'5" and 353 lbs, making him the No. 23 overall prospect in the country. Michigan is going hard after him, but like Samuels, it will be a shock if he ends up anywhere other than Florida State.
4) WR Tee Higgins
Higgis is one of the most sought-after wideouts in the country for good reason. Not only does he have gamebreaking speed, Higgins is a massive target at 6'5" with great hands, giving him all the tools you could possibly want. FSU still has a ways to go to catch Clemson and Tennessee, but they are in the mix.
3) CB Shaun Wade
The No. 3 cornerback in the country, Wade committed to Ohio State in January 2015 after the Buckeyes won the national title. However, the Seminoles have been working very hard to flip him, and there's a good chance the Jacksonville native will do just that.
2) OT Calvin Ashley
The No. 2 tackle in the nation has already committed to the Auburn Tigers. He made his pledge back in May 2015, but he is still looking at other schools - Florida State, in particular, is making a strong push and look like they could flip him.
1) DT Marvin Wilson
It'll be tough to pull the No. 1 player in Texas out of the state, the 'Noles are trying. Many schools are interested in the 6'4", 316-pounder, headlined by Texas, LSU, Alabama and Ohio State - and FSU is right there with those teams.
