The Springfield Thunderbirds bounced back from an opening night defeat in Lehigh Valley with a 2-1 road win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Sunday afternoon at Webster Bank Arena.
After a scoreless first period, defenseman MacKenzie Weegar lit the lamp at the 3:50 mark of the second with the assists going to Brody Sutter and Logan Shaw.
Sutter scored the eventual game-winner 8:52 into the final frame from Weegar and fellow newcomer to the Florida Panthers organization Tim Bozon.
Bozon was acquired from Montreal for defenseman Jonathan Racine and Sutter came over from Carolina for forward Connor Brickley right before the start of the season.
