According to Sun Sentinel beat writer Harvey Fialkov, the Florida Panthers have signed Michigan defenseman Michael Downing to an entry-level contract.

The 20-year-old Downing just completed his junior campaign with the Wolverines on a bit of a sour note, as Michigan lost to North Dakota in the Regional Finals of the NCAA Tournament this past weekend.
In 35 games this season, Downing scored 3 goals and added 17 assists, while racking up 66 PIM to go along with a very healthy +20 rating.
