Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito was a busy man on Monday as the club prepared for the opening of free agency on Wednesday.
Zito signed three current Panthers to brand spanking new contracts, including key piece Sam Bennett, who-re-upped for four more years.
Bennett’s new deal makes him the team’s fourth highest paid forward and carries an average annual value of $4.425 million. The 25-year-old quickly found chemistry with Jonathan Huberdeau on the second line and produced six goals and 15 points in 10 regular season games with the Cats. He added a goal and four assists in 5 playoffs games against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
